چکیده
The Scanditronix MC40 variable energy cyclotron at the University of Birmingham is perhaps the most flexible research cyclotron in the country. Its extracted beam facilities are well used for isotope production, surface activation / wear and materials damage studies. Over the least 5 years a capability for radiobiology and dosimetry studies has been developed which enables use of the available proton and ion beams.

SU-E-T-139: Feasibility Study of Glass Dosimeter for in Vivo Measurement: Dosimetric Characterization and Clinical Application in Proton Beams.
PURPOSE To evaluate the suitability of the GD-301 glass dosimeter for use in in vivo dose verification in proton therapy. METHODS The glass dosimeter was analyzed for its dosimetric characteristic in proton beam. Dosimeters were calibrated in a water phantom using a stair-like holder specially designed for this study. To determine the accuracy of the glass dosimeter in proton dose measurement...
متن کاملDosimetric assessment of the PRESAGE dosimeter for a proton pencil beam
The objective of this study is to assess the feasibility of using PRESAGE dosimeters for proton pencil beam dosimetry. Two different formulations of phantom materials were tested for their suitability in characterizing a single proton pencil beam. The dosimetric response of PRESAGE was found to be linear up to 4Gy. First-generation optical CT scanner, OCTOPUS was used to implement dose distribu...
متن کاملDosimetric Studies of Proton Source Terms at Pw Laser Systems
This paper is a continuation of the preliminary dosimetric evaluation of source terms at PW laser systems [1] the proton case. The main acceleration mechanisms and the associated characteristics of the accelerated proton beams were briefly presented. FLUKA and GEANT4 Monte Carlo transport codes were used to compute absorbed doses due to three proton beams of well defined energy and spatial dist...
متن کاملDosimetric Characteristics of a Two-Dimensional Diode Array Detector Irradiated with Passively Scattered Proton Beams
PURPOSE To evaluate the dosimetric characteristics of a two-dimensional (2D) diode array detector irradiated with passively scattered proton beams. MATERIALS AND METHODS A diode array detector, MapCHECK (Model 1175, Sun Nuclear, Melbourne, FL, USA) was characterized in passive-scattered proton beams. The relative sensitivity of the diodes and absolute dose calibration were determined using a ...
متن کاملDose estimation with the calibration of dose-response curve of micronucleus in human peripheral lymphocytes induced by 50MeV proton beams
Background: The purpose of this paper is to establish an easy and reliable biodosimeter protocol to evaluate the biological effects of proton beams. Materials and Methods: Human peripheral blood lymphocytes were irradiated using proton beams (LET: 34.6 keV μm−1), and the chromosome aberrations induced were analyzed using cytokinesis-blocked (CB) micronucleus (MN) assay. To determine th...
